OSU Tax Schools: Offering 32 hours of CPE/CLE Annually!
The mission of the Oklahoma State University Tax Schools is to
provide a quality and high valued tax education. The knowledgeable and diverse
instructor teams for the Schools consist of veteran tax professionals and
representatives of various agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, the
Oklahoma Tax Commission, and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.
OSU’s Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the Oklahoma
Cooperative Extension Service have sponsored the annual Farm & Business Tax
Institute since 1962. Initially the Institute educated farmers, preparers, and
Extension specialists to prepare tax returns. Over the years it has evolved into
a professional continuing education program for tax practitioners addressing
broader issues affecting individuals and businesses.
The Fall Tax Institutes (16 hours CPE/CLE that includes 2 hours ethics) are held
in November and December at a variety of locations in Oklahoma. The educational
content is updated each year and covers tax preparation issues that affect tax
return preparers nationwide. Issues affecting Oklahoma preparers are often
included in the workbook and included in the information presented at the
institutes.
The Summer Tax Clinics (16 hours CPE/CLE) are held each July. It is designed to
cover issues that need more detailed coverage than time allowed in the fall
institutes as well as provide coverage of new legislation passed after the first
of the year. Different tax return preparation issues are covered in the summer
clinics versus the fall institutes.
